Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala which also marks the homecoming of the mythological King Mahabali, was celebrated on the school premises on Thursday, the 15th of September. The students and staff adorned in ethnic wear brought in the ambience of God’s Own Country in the school lobby.
The celebration began with prayer, followed by the Onappatu, ‘Maaveli Naadu Vaanidum Kaalam’ by the students of class V. Keerthana of class V spoke about the significance of the festival. In order to create awareness about the Keralites’ culture and tradition, Ms Smitha, an English teacher, shared her childhood memories of Onam celebration in Kerala. A video based on the story of King Mahabali was played which the students enjoyed watching.
