Sanskrit Day Celebration

BVM Global @ Bengaluru celebrated Sanskrit Day on September 1, 2016. Mr. Srihari, the Sanskrit teacher addressed the students. He spoke about Sanskrit being one of the ancient and sacred languages and how many languages like Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam are believed to have originated from Sanskrit. Sanskrit has also lent many words to other languages, the word ‘cow’ being one.

Mr. Srihari also urged the students to learn Sanskrit. He said that Sanskrit is believed to be the mother of languages, and hence if students fail to learn it, it is like the unacceptable behaviour of an adult, who having been close to his or her mother as a child, ignores her as an adult. Mr. Srihari, gave this example to draw students’ attention to understand the importance and respect one should give the mother of languages - Sanskrit.

Students of BVM enthusiastically participated in the extended assembly activities to celebrate the ‘Sanskrit Day’. Hiten, of Class VIII, shared the thought for the day. Students of class IV and VI recited a Sanskrit poem and Bhagavad Geeta shlokas respectively.  Aditya Ravi of class VII shared a few words about the Sanskrit language. Saatvika of class VII recited a shloka and Shruti Nigam of class VII concluded the celebration by sharing a few words on Ramayana.
